Description
#072114-A, "Sticking your Neck Out" 8 x 8 piece of collage art with a 2” white mat to the final size of 12 x 12 ready for you to slide into a nice 12 x 12 frame.
Materials Used: 140lb. Watercolor paper, polymer medium, acrylics, handwriting on drawing paper, old book page, image transfers and acrylics, wax pastel crayons, sealed with a layer of UV satin varnished.
Meaning behind the art: Every once in a while I come to the collage table in the studio and want to try something different, Why? To take a risk and see what happens. Not always does the visual moment work out to the best of my intentions but the showing up and doing is the hardest part. I used one piece of paper given to me by a friend on the West coast and well I wanted to just use one piece of paper to collage with…it didn’t work but I just covered it up with some paint and then played on the surface. While I was doing that the other part that was freeing is I didn’t care how it would turn out. I strongly wanted to just be in the process of it. And being there doesn’t mean success on the level of a great piece but success that you stuck it out and carried out the process.
So my visual moment today is about process and how you have to stick with it and stick your neck out there and give it a try and let go of the results…be in the moment, not every piece of art created will be a masterpiece but the steps you take to get to one is.
