Artist's Description

The Battle of Gettysburg was considered the turning point for the Union Armies during the American Civil War. The U.S. Army of the Potomac repelled attacks from Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia, ending their invasion of Northern Territory. The battle resulted in 50,000 casualties. Later that year President Lincoln gave his historic Gettysburg Address during a dedication ceremony making Gettysburg a national cemetery.
