Description
Reference photos used for this award winning watercolor painting were taken in Old Dali, a city in the Yunnan Province of China. Each of these elder Chinese women wears a different hat, shoes, and clothing, yet they meet in the street each day to socialize and discuss family and friends. These women sit on tiny chairs just right for their small size. I only used three pigments for my Chinese series, Aureolin Yellow, Winsor Blue, and Quinacridone Rose. I enjoyed the challenge of mixing all the colors in the piece from three primary pigments.
