The Tower was a prison, torture chamber, and place of execution. Its formal name is Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress The Tower of London. It located in central London on the north bank of the River Thames adjacent to Tower Bridge. The Crown Jewels of England are kept in the Tower of London.
