#072114-A, "Sticking your Neck Out" 8 x 8 piece of collage art with a 2” white mat to the final size of 12 x 12 ready for you to slide into a nice 12 x 12 frame.
Materials Used: 140lb. Watercolor paper, polymer medium, acrylics, handwriting on drawing paper, old book page, image transfers and acrylics, wax pastel crayons, sealed with a layer of UV satin varnished.
Meaning behind the art: Every once in a while I come to the collage table in the studio and want to try something different, Why? To take a risk and see what happens. Not always does the visual moment work out to the best of my intentions but the showing up and doing is the hardest part. I used one piece of paper given to me by a friend on the West coast and well I wanted to just use one piece of paper to collage with…it didn’t work but I just covered it up with some paint and then played on the surface. About Laura Lein-Svencner
Bio Laura Lein-Svencner was raised in Downers Grove IL not far from her grandfather’s farm and resides now Darien Illinois for the past 30 years. She’s continued with her personal studies in drawing, printmaking, sculpture, papermaking and collage. Seeking inspiration from one artist to another, Laura has pursued her love of paper; this steady pace of exploration has led her to become a member of many local and international collage groups. She also co-founded the Midwest Collage Society which exhibits throughout the Midwest region. Her works has won many awards and most recently the 27th Annual Juried Exhibit with the National Collage Society.
